Community Nursing Services started as a visiting nursing company in January 1984, in Huron County. For 25 years, CNS staff delivered exceptional nursing care throughout North Huron and Perth counties.
In 2007, a shift occurred in the home health care sector when LHINs (local health integration networks) were formed and the CCAC (Community Care Access Center) boundaries were changed. There was a need to consolidate CCAC contracts and CNS staff and visits rolled into the contracts of a bigger “sister agency.” The staff and management expressed a desire to keep CNS alive and allow the nurses to volunteer their time and expertise to provide clinics in third world countries in desperate need.
